Sexual Abuse Survivor Sues the Vatican for Release of Names and Files—Los Angeles Press Event Today

Lawsuit Seeks the Release of Names and Files Regarding More Than 3,400 Perpetrators Held Secretly at the Vatican

(Los Angeles, CA) – At a press conference Thursday in Los Angeles, survivor Manny Vega and the law firm Jeff Anderson & Associates will:

  • Announce a lawsuit filed against the Vatican in United States District Court-Central District of California in Los Angeles seeking:
    • The release of names of all offenders worldwide, held secret by the Vatican, who sexually abused kids, many of whom remain in ministry and in our communities today;
    • The release of all files and documents maintained by all Church officials worldwide, including the files sent to the Vatican under a 2001 decree pertaining to over 3,400 perpetrators requiring all officials to send this information to the Vatican, which the Vatican continues to keep secret today;
    • The disclosure of the identities of all top officials held secret by the Vatican who were known and found to be complicit in the cover-up of child sexual abuse, including Vatican officials, Cardinals, Bishops, and Religious Superiors worldwide.
