Attorney to Newark Archbishop: Release Names, Update List of Accused Priests
WHAT: Tomorrow, at a virtual news conference, attorneys who represent five victims of the now-defrocked Cardinal Theodore McCarrick will announce two new civil sexual battery lawsuits against him and the Archdiocese of Newark. The survivors are:
- A retired New Jersey priest who repeatedly reported that his then-boss McCarrick sexually assaulted him, and
- A retired employee who was assaulted by his then-boss McCarrick.
The attorneys of Jeff Anderson & Associates will also:
- Release a list of 46 individuals accused of sexual misconduct who are NOT on the Archdiocese of Newark’s ‘credibly accused’ list of clerics and may have access to children right now, and
- Urge anyone who ‘saw, suspected or suffered’ wrongdoing by McCarrick to help prosecutors by calling law enforcement immediately.
McCarrick’s first criminal hearing on child sexual abuse charges is Friday, September 3 in Massachusetts.
