Attorneys to Announce Archdiocese Settlement with Clergy Abuse Victim and New Protocol for Release of Information on Offenders
(Chicago, IL) At a news conference Monday, prominent clergy abuse attorney Jeff Anderson will:
- Announce the settlement of a lawsuit against the Chicago Archdiocese involving sexual abuse of Angel Santiago by Father Joseph Fitzharris while he was assigned to St. Francis Xavier Parish.
- Introduce Santiago and his family. Santiago, whose father was a janitor at St. Francis Xavier when Angel’s abuse occurred, will speak publicly about his abuse for the time.
- In the interests of safety and the protection of children, discuss the successful negotiation with the Chicago Archdiocese for greater transparency and a new protocol to govern the release of names and information concerning offender priests.
- Discuss 11 additional cases settled and with the Archdiocese over the past two years.
