South St. Paul School District Notified of Claim Involving Sexual Abuse by Former Lincoln Elementary School Teacher Aric Babbitt
(So. St. Paul, MN) – Jeff Anderson & Associates recently provided the South St. Paul School District with a Notice of Claim informing the District of the firm’s representation of a survivor sexually abused by former teacher Aric Babbitt.
In August 2016, a report of sexual abuse involving Babbitt and his husband Matthew Deyo was made to the South St. Paul Police Department. Babbitt and Deyo immediately fled the state and were found approximately one week later in an apparent murder-suicide.
“The police investigation and our investigation revealed that by using his stature as a teacher, Babbitt did egregious harm to many children over a significant period of time. In our view, there are signs that some responsibility rests with the District,” said Anderson. “We applaud this survivor and his family and are aware serious harm has been done to many children and families by this ‘dangerous duo.’”
After the initial report was made in August, nine additional survivors came forward alleging sexual abuse by Babbitt and Deyo.
