Diocese of Buffalo To File Adversary Proceeding Against Child Sexual Abuse Survivors

(Buffalo, NY) – Yesterday the Diocese of Buffalo filed an adversary proceeding in bankruptcy court against all survivors of child sexual abuse who have filed claims under the New York Child Victims Act.

This unnecessary legal tactic is insensitive to survivors of child sexual abuse who have already been deeply harmed by the abuse they suffered, as well as by the actions and inactions of top diocesan officials. The Diocese has stood firm in its position that the parishes and other entities are separate from the Diocese, however, this legal tactic demonstrates just the opposite.

We will continue to fight for survivors and are committed to revealing the entire truth about what the Diocese knew about its predator priests and when they knew it. It is unfortunate that the top officials in the Diocese of Buffalo continue to fail survivors of child sexual abuse.
