Aug 05, 2019: Court Hearing on Boy Scouts’ Attempts to Hide Identification of Offenders in Perversion Files

(St. Paul, MN) – Lawyers representing a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by a Boy Scout leader are seeking the public release of 1,538 secret Boy Scouts files on leaders with allegations of sexual misconduct against children. Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has refused to make public the perpetrator names and documents contained in these files, known as Perversion Files.

Jul 17, 2019: Clergy Sexual Abuse Survivors Reach Settlement With Diocese of Crookston

Fifteen survivors of child sexual abuse by priests in the Diocese of Crookston have settled their lawsuits against the Diocese. In addition to receiving compensation, the 15 survivors compelled the Diocese of Crookston to be more transparent through non-economic settlement provisions. As part of the settlement, the names and secret files of clergy accused of sexually abusing children in the Diocese of Crookston will be made public at a later date. In addition, depositions taken in the litigation of clergy child sex abuse cases against the Diocese will be made public.

Jul 16, 2019: Archdiocese of New York Sued for Maintaining, Concealing the Public Hazard of Sexually Abusive Priests

(New York, New York) – At a press conference Tuesday in New York City, a sexual abuse survivor and the law firm of Jeff Anderson & Associates will: Announce the filing of a lawsuit against the Archdiocese of New York alleging that the church officials engaged in an ongoing pattern of conduct to keep priests in ministry after they concealed and/or misrepresented their sexually abusive histories. Discuss that in doing so, the Archdiocese is exposing the public and children to the risk of sexual abuse.

Jun 26, 2019: Releasing Names of 109 Perpetrators Accused of Sexual Abuse Misconduct in the Diocese of Phoenix

Releasing report containing the identities, histories, photographs and information on 109 clerics accused of child sexual abuse in the Diocese of Phoenix;

Discussing the historic legislation passed by the Arizona legislature that extends the age limit for sexual abuse survivors to bring claims against a perpetrator and the institution that may have protected the perpetrator; and

Demanding full disclosure by the Diocese of Phoenix and the religious orders, regarding all clergy accused of sexual abuse who worked in the diocese.

Jun 26, 2019: Settlement Reached in the Diocese of New Ulm Bankruptcy Case

(New Ulm, MN) – A settlement has been reached in the Diocese of New Ulm bankruptcy case, which involves 93 claimants who were sexually abused as children by clergy and others in the Diocese.The Diocese and the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors (“Creditors Committee”), comprised of clergy sexual abuse survivors, have reached an agreement in principle toward a resolution of the bankruptcy. The settlement calls for payment of approximately $34 million to the 93 sexual abuse claimants. The Diocese previously agreed to the release of names of credibly accused priests.

Reports that a Los Angeles track coach and former Olympic hurdler is accused of sexually assaulting more than 30 athletes over 44 years are grim reminders of the need for strict oversight to guard against predatory coaches.Conrad Mainwaring was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual battery in connection with an incident in 2016 when he sexually assaulted a male college athlete “under the guise of physical therapy and metal focus training,” according to police.
