Attorney Jeff Anderson Applauds N.Y. Senate Bill Extending the New York Child Victims Act

On May 27th, 2020, the New York Senate voted 60 to 0 in favor of extending the New York Child Victims Act by one year. This is a giant step forward for New York and, more broadly, the Child Protection Movement. We applaud each and every New York Senator for standing up for survivors by recognizing the need for more time to take action under the Child Victims Act.

Video Transcription: “In New York today, there is a much better chance, by reason of the senate having passed a law to extend the statute of limitations in New York. That means there is a better chance for kids to be protected. That means there’s a better chance for survivors to find their voice. A better chance for the communities to be safer. A better chance for survivors to recover their power. A better chance for the truth to be known. A better chance for justice to be done. A better chance to hold those responsible accountable for the first time in the state of New York. A better chance for more time, because it is time for survivors to have enough time. A better chance for survivor’s privacy to be protected. A better chance for those who would hurt those kids, both past and present, to be held accountable. A better chance for the police to know who the predators are. A better chance for the survivors to share those secrets they’ve so long held. A better chance for truth to be known, voices to be heard. A better chance for the communities all across New York to be safer. A better chance to be better.”
