Fr. John Spaulding was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Phoenix. In 2011, a Diocesan Review Board found three allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor perpetrated by Fr. Spaulding to be credible. Fr. Spaulding’s faculties were suspended and he was placed on administrative leave. These credible allegations included sexual abuse of a minor boy when Fr. Spaulding was assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glendale, Arizona, and two allegations from two minor boys when Fr. Spaulding was assigned to St. Helen’s in Glendale, Arizona. There were a total of four credible allegations before a special tribunal recommended Fr. Spaulding be laicized in 2014, after it found him guilty of “sins against the Sixth Commandment with a minor.” Fr. Spaulding was included on the Diocese of Phoenix’s list of “Diocese of Phoenix Priests and Deacons who have been accused of sexual misconduct with a minor and have a Canonical case in process.” It is believed Fr. Spaulding may be residing in Phoenix. Fr. Spaulding’s status as a priest and whether he has access to children are unknown.
