Maxwell Rollin “Ron” Pelton was a deacon at Immaculate Conception in Cottonwood, Arizona, from November 1991 until his retirement in October 2000. In 2009, Deacon Pelton was arrested and charged with sexually abusing a minor child. At that time, his faculties were revoked and a civil claim was filed against him in 2010. Deacon Pelton is listed on the Diocese of Phoenix’s “List of priests and deacons who have been laicized and/or removed from ministry due to sexual misconduct with a minor.” Deacon Pelton’s whereabouts and whether he had access to children prior to his death in 2010 are unknown.
