Fr. Charles Patrick Mayer: Allegations Received From Adults Alleging Misconduct When They Were Minors

Fr. Charles Mayer was arrested in August 2018 after he sent nude photos of himself to someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy. Fr. Mayer was charged with trying to lure a minor to have sex, and he pleaded not guilty. Fr. Mayer has been on inactive leave from the priesthood since 2000 due to his failure to adhere to Archdiocesan policies concerning interaction with youth and young adults. Following his arrest in August 2018, Fr. Mayer was placed on administrative leave from his job as Dean of Students at Nicolet Middle School in Banning, California. Fr. Mayer has been barred from any district facility or school campus. Fr. Mayer is believed to have worked at Lutheran schools and other religious-based schools in the cities of Menifee and Vista since 2000. Detectives were informed that there could have been inappropriate behavior involving students and Fr. Mayer at these schools as well
