Fr. Marvin T. Knighton was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. In 2002, Fr. Knighton was criminally charged on counts relating to child sexual abuse that occurred in approximately 1988 and 1989 while he worked at Pius XI High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fr. Knighton was acquitted in a jury trial the following year. In 2003, another survivor came forward to accuse Fr. Knighton of child sexual abuse in or about the 1970s. Following the second allegation of child sexual abuse, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee allegedly removed Fr. Knighton from public ministry. Fr. Knighton was named on the Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s list of “Diocesan priests of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee who have been (or would be if they were still alive) restricted from all priestly ministries due to substantiated reports of sexual abuse of a minor.” Fr. Knighton was also named on the Diocese of Phoenix’s list of “Names of priests and deacons from other dioceses who may no longer serve in the Diocese of Phoenix due to an accusation of sexual misconduct with a minor.” Fr. Knighton was laicized in 2011 and is currently believed to be living in Phoenix, Arizona. Whether he has access to children is unknown.
