In 2002, Fr. John Patrick Bertolucci was removed from ministry after he was accused of sexually abusing a boy
several times between 1976 and 1979, beginning when the boy was 12 years old. Court papers later revealed that Fr.
Bertolucci admitted to improperly touching the boy. Fr. Bertolucci was again accused of sexual abuse in 2011, when a man
alleged that four priests, one of whom was Fr. Bertolucci, had sexually abused him on separate occasions at Our Lady of
Mercy in Colonie, New York, beginning when he was as young as nine years old. Fr. Bertolucci was named in the Diocese
of Albany’s 2015, 2018, and 2019 lists of “Clergy Credibly Accused While Serving in the Diocese of Albany.” Fr. Bertolucci’s
status as a priest, whereabouts, and whether he had access to children from 2003 until his death are unknown.
