Fr. John Beno was ordained in the Diocese of Pueblo. Fr. Beno has been accused of sexually abusing a young minor girl in approximately 1961 while assigned to St. Francis Xavier in Pueblo, Colorado. He has also been accused of sexually abusing a minor teenage girl at Seton High School in Pueblo, Colorado, in approximately 1968 or 1969. The incidents were both reported in 2005 and the Diocese purportedly arranged a financial settlement for the first survivor. The Diocese’s Sexual Misconduct Review Board ruled the second survivor’s allegation to be substantiated. Fr. Beno was included in the Colorado Attorney General’s Special Master’s Report on “Roman Catholic Clergy Sexual Abuse of Children in Colorado from 1950 to 2019.” Fr. Beno’s whereabouts and whether he had access to children from 1983 until his death in 2000 are unknown.
