Fr. Carlos Peralta is a Salesian priest from South America who worked in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Several survivors of Fr. Peralta have brought allegations of child sexual abuse against him. In 1998, after being accused of child sexual abuse in Peru, he was transferred to St. John Bosco Parish in Chicago. Shortly thereafter, in May of 1999, a minor male alleged that Fr. Peralta sexually abused him. Fr. Peralta was removed from his position and sent to a Salesian community in New Jersey. Also in 1999, four survivors of Fr. Peralta’s abuse filed a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused them while working in Chicago. As of 2004, Fr. Peralta was assigned to a Salesian provincial house in Mexico City.
