Fr. Victor Balbin
Fr. Victor Balbin was an extern priest from the Philippines. He was accused, along with 6 other priests, of having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl. When the girl became pregnant, the priests allegedly conspired to keep her pregnancy a secret and sent her to the Philippines where she nearly died while giving birth to her child. The alleged victim filed a civil lawsuit in 1984 and Fr. Balbin reportedly fled to the Philippines after the lawsuit was filed. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles settled the claims against Fr. Balbin and the other 6 priests in 2007. Fr. Balbin was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Balbin’s current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
