Ronan Charles Liles
Father Ronan Charles Liles, also known as Charles R. or Charles B. Liles, born September 6, 1942, was ordained in 1969 in the Dominican Order. Father Liles worked in various parishes in Minneapolis, Chicago, and New Orleans. Liles is named by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis as a clergy member who has been credibly accused of child sexual abuse.
In 1997, two brothers filed a lawsuit saying they were sexually abused by Father Liles when they were boys in the 1960s and 1970s. The brothers said they met Father Liles at a Boy Scout Camp and that the abuse took place there and during overnight stays at St. Albert’s rectory in South Minneapolis. The brothers also accused Brother Edmund Frost who lived with Father Liles in St. Albert’s rectory. They said Brother Frost and Father Liles abused them in a “tag-team” fashion.
