Francisco Schulte

Father Francisco Schulte was ordained in 1979 and served in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota, as well as in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Rome.

In September 2002 during the St. John’s Abbey Abuse Disclosure Project, a victim said Father Schulte sexually abused him there in October 1988. Father Schulte was under restrictions at the Abbey but was granted leave on multiple occasions to travel. In May 2010 two North Carolina brothers filed a civil suit against Father Schulte claiming they were abused by the priest when he served in the Raleigh area. One of the brothers said after he was abused in North Carolina, Schulte later recruited him to come to St. John’s in Minnesota where the abuse continued. That suit settled in 2011.

In April 2011, another lawsuit was filed by a victim who alleged Father Schulte abused him when he was representing St. John’s Abbey in Humacao, Puerto Rico.

Father Francisco Schulte is listed on two official lists of clergy members who have been credibly accused of child sexual abuse. According to the Saint John’s Abbey list (released 12/19/2013) and the Diocese of St. Cloud list (released 1/03/2014), Father Francisco was assigned to the following parishes:
