Joseph Meyer: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Joseph Meyer

Joseph Meyer was born in approximately April 1924. He worked at St. Mark’s
in St. Paul, Minnesota, as a physical education instructor, athletic
director and coach from approximately 1947-1983. Mr. Meyer initiated many
athletic programs for boys and girls from the ages of five years old and
up. In approximately 1983, St. Mark’s gymnasium was named after Mr. Meyer.
Mr. Meyer’s name has since been removed from the gymnasium. It is believed
that Mr. Meyer died in approximately February 1999.

Mr. Meyer has been accused of sexual abuse or misconduct with minors in the
Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Mr. Meyer was named in at least 5
proofs of claim filed in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis
Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
