On October 7, 2014 the priest file of Father John Richard Feiten was released to the public. Along with Feiten’s file, the files of thirteen other priests with credible allegations of sexual abuse in the Diocese of Winona were also released. The files were obtained as part of the Doe 1 v. Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and the Diocese of Winona civil lawsuit filed in Ramsey County in May 2013. The lawsuit was made possible due to the Child Victims Act passed by the Minnesota legislature.

Father John R. (Richard) Feiten was born April 23, 1924 in Winona, MN. He was ordained by the Diocese of Winona on June 6, 1948. Father Feiten worked for Catholic Charities for 23 years and spent 29 years in parochial ministry.

Father Feiten worked in various parishes throughout Minnesota and is included on the official list of clergy members who have been credibly accused of child sexual abuse released on December 16, 2013 by the Diocese of Winona. According to the Diocese of Winona list, Father John R. Feiten worked at the following parishes:

Father John R. Feiten was associated with the work of Mother Teresa of Calcutta & Missionaries of Charity and was the national treasurer for the Co-Workers of Mother Teresa. Father Feiten held positions as Chaplain to Teams of Our Lady – Super Regional Chaplain and Chaplain to the Children’s Home. Feiten was Moderator of Cursillo in the Diocese of Winona and Moderator of the Catholic Recreational Center in Winona, MN. Father Feiten was also a member of the Presybteral Council and the College of Consultors.
