James (Jaime) Duenas: Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

In August 2011, Fr. James Duenas of the Archdiocese of New York was accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl. Fr. Duenas sexually abused the survivor in the rectory of Nativity of Our Blessed Lady in New York (Bronx), New York. Fr. Duenas was subsequently arrested and charged with sexual abuse of the girl, forcibly touching her, and endangering the welfare of a child. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was suspended from ministry. In June 2014, the survivor filed a civil lawsuit against Fr. Duenas. Fr. Duenas died on June 6, 2014.
