Notes: According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Fr. Franklin James Buckman stands accused of sexually abusing three children between 1962 and 1981. In 1984, while working in the Diocese of Orange, he resigned from St. Polycarp in Stanton after it was alleged that he sexually abused a child. The Diocese of Orange transferred Fr. Buckman to the Diocese of Baker, Oregon, where he worked at various locations on reservations for 17 years. Shortly after his transfer, in 1989, a woman reported that Fr. Buckman had sexually abused her son. He was reportedly removed from ministry and moved to Arizona in 2002.Fr. Buckman was sued for child sexual abuse in 2005 and the case settled. His name was reported to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and he has been publicly named as an alleged perpetrator by the Diocese of Orange. The Diocese of Orange paid for Fr. Buckman to attend psychotherapy sessions twice a month and also paid the medical bills of a woman who said Fr. Buckman abused her son in 1979. Fr. Buckman was included on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. As of 2016, Fr. Buckman had been removed from ministry and sentenced to a life of prayer and penance. As of 2002, it was believed Fr. Buckman was residing in Mesa, AZ. His current whereabouts and access to children are unknown.
