Francis J. Manzo: Diocesan Clergy Accused of Sexual Misconduct With a Minor

In October 2002, Fr. Francis J. Manzo of the Diocese of Brooklyn was named in a lawsuit brought by survivors of child sexual abuse. Fr. Manzo worked at St. Catherine of Alexandria in Brooklyn, New York when he allegedly sexually abused the survivor in approximately the early 1990s. Fr. Manzo was placed on leave in 1995.

Fr. Francis J. Manzo was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn in 1962 and worked at the following locations:

  • 1963-1965: Our Lady of the Cenacle, Richmond Hill, NY
  • 1966-1967: St. Anthony of Padua, Brooklyn, NY
  • 1966-1980: Cathedral Preparatory Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Brooklyn, NY
    • (Dean of Students 1972-1980)
  • 1981-1992: St. Catherine of Alexandria, Brooklyn, NY
  • 1987-1994: St. John’s Priests Relief Society (Treasurer)
  • 1993-1994: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queens, NY
  • 1995-2002: Absent on leave
