David A. Roney

Father David A. Roney was ordained in 1945. He served in both the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and the Diocese of New Ulm after it was created. From the 1940s until he retired and moved to Guatemala in the 1993 Fr. Roney spent time in Minneapolis, St. Croix Beach, Faxon Township, Walnut Grove, Benson, Willmar and Lafayette, Minnesota.

In August 2003 two women filed separate lawsuits alleging Fr. Roney abused them when they were children and he was pastor of the Church of St. Mary in Willmar from 1967 through 1980. Those cases were settled in 2005. Two more women filed lawsuits against Roney and the Diocese in September 2003, claiming the diocese learned of Fr. Roneys misconduct in 1987 but failed to act.

Father David A. Roney died in 2003 at age 82.
