According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at least two survivors have come forward alleging child sexual abuse by Msgr. Christian Van Liefde, between approximately 1971 and 1975. A child sexual abuse report was made in 1992 against Msgr. Van Liefde and was investigated by police. Msgr. Van Liefde was placed on leave in 2002. In 2003, an allegation of child sexual abuse and a civil lawsuit were brought against Fr. Van Liefde. Fr. Van Liefde was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Van Liefde may have been living in Mission Viejo, CA in approximately 2007. Fr. Van Liefde’s current status as a priest, his whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
