Bruce Wollmering

Fr. Wollmering was ordained in 1967 and worked at St. Johns Preparatory School and St. Johns University for more than thirty years from 1967-2003. He taught Latin and coached cross-country running briefly during the first years of his career, and later worked as a counselor and psychology professor. Fr. Wollmering died in 2009 at age 68.

In 2004 two allegations were made against Fr. Wollmering alleging sexual misconduct during the early 1980s. Then in December 2009 Fr. Wollmering was named in two separate lawsuits alleging abuse in 1971, and 1984-86. Fr. Wollmering was accused of being sexually inappropriate with a child and engaging in illegal sexual contact with [another] under the guise of providing religious instruction and emotional counseling . The claims were settled in March 2011.
