A 2002 civil lawsuit alleged that Fr. Horvath sexually abused a child from approximately 1971 to 1974 at St. Kilian Church Mission in Viejo. Fr. Horvath worked in several dioceses, including the Diocese of Amarillo in Texas, where he was allegedly stationed for 20 years. He left the Diocese of Amarillo in approximately 2000 after the Diocese of Orange notified the Diocese of Amarillo about allegations of child sexual abuse against Fr. Horvath. Fr. Horvath was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. It is believed Fr. Horvath was residing in Ohio and may have died in approximately 2012. Since 1975, his status as a priest, whereabouts, and whether he had access to children are unknown.
