Ambrose R. Filbin

Father Ambrose Filbin was ordained in 1939 and subsequently worked in parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and the Diocese of New Ulm in Minnesota before he retired in 1982 and subsequently died in 1990.

Father Filbin’s name was released by the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on October 23, 2014 as having credible allegations of committing acts of sexual abuse. Subsequently, Father Filbin’s priest file maintained by the Archdiocese was released to the public on November 5, 2014 by Jeff Anderson and Associates.

Father Filbin’s name appears on an August 2002 memo to then Archbishop Flynn regarding priests with known abuse histories, but his name was omitted from the Archdiocesan list released in December 2013 for no known reason.

In 2013, two women came forward with separate allegations that Father Filbin abused them when they attended St. Pius X parish school in White Bear Lake, Minnesota in the 1960’s.
