Fr. Peter Charland was ordained in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Fr. Charland was accused of sexually abusing at least eight children at SS Phillips and James in the early 1970s. In 1978, Fr. Charland became licensed as a Certified Social Worker in New York State. He later went on to become a private practice therapist focusing on children with attention deficit disorder and learning disabilities until his death in 2004. Fr. Charland’s whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he had access to children from 1976 until his death are unknown.
