Br. John H. Dagwell, C.F.X, was a member of the Congregation of Xaverian Brothers. In 1988, Fr. Dagwell pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 15-year-old student in 1986 while teaching at the Montvale parochial school in Montvale, NJ. Fr. Dagwell was sentenced to probation and was subsequently transferred to Milton, MA. From 1989 to 1992, Br. Dagwell worked at St. Francis House shelter in Boston, MA until residents started to complain of unwanted hugging and kissing by Br. Dagwell, forcing him to resign. In 1995, Br. Dagwell worked at Crossroads Family Shelter in East Boston, run by the Most Holy Redeemer parish. Br. Dagwell was fired two months later after Crossroads learned of his past allegations. Br. Dagwell reportedly left the Congregation of Xaverian Brothers in 2002. Br. Dagwell’s whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
