According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, at least one survivor has come forward alleging child sexual abuse by Fr. Valentine Tugade from approximately 1978 to 1984. Fr. Tugade was an extern priest visiting from the Philippines who worked briefly in the Archdiocese. Fr. Tugade was reportedly residing in Fremont, California in 2002. In 2003, a state court proved he fathered a child born of the abuse. Fr. Tugade has been named in at least two civil lawsuits. Fr. Tugade was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. His status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
