Fr. Carlos Rodriguez was a member of the Vincentian religious order. Fr. Rodriguez has been accused by at least six people of child sexual abuse from 1984 to 1994. Fr. Rodriguez has been named in at least five civil lawsuits. In 1987, Fr. Rodriguez confessed to sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy. In 1988, Fr. Rodriguez was sent to St. Luke Institute, an institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. In 1993, Fr. Rodriguez left the Vincentian community and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles removed his faculties as a priest. In 1998, Fr. Rodriguez was laicized. In 2004, Fr. Rodriguez was convicted of sexual abusing two boys in approximately 1988 to 1993 and was sentenced to eight years in prison. In January 2008, Fr. Rodriguez was released from prison on parole. As of 2013, it is believed that he was residing in a private residence in Huntington Beach, CA and is registered as a sex offender. In 2016, Rodriguez was found ministering at a church in Los Angeles with no affiliation to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; he was using the name Carlos Ramirez. Fr. Rodriguez was removed after the church found out about his history. Fr. Rodriguez was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Rodriguez’ current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
