In 2002, Fr. Albert J. Proud was removed from ministry and sent to St. Luke Institute, a treatment facility, after being accused of child sexual abuse. In 2003, the Diocese of Syracuse confirmed that Fr. Proud had been permanently removed from ministry due to credible allegations of child sexual abuse.
