Francisco Fredy Montero: Substantiated Claims of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Francisco Fredy Montero

Father Francisco Montero, also known as Francisco “Fredy” Montero Monar came to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis from Ecuador in 2001. Fr. Montero served as pastor at Church of the Incarnation in Minneapolis until 2007.

While in Minnesota, Fr. Montero lived and had an affair with a parishioner in Minneapolis who later complained to the church and police that Montero molested her four year old daughter. Fr. Montero fled to Ecuador while he was under investigation for criminal sexual conduct involving the girl in July 2007. The Church in Ecuador claimed they recalled Fr. Montero and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis said he was free to go.
