Father John McGrath was ordained in 1957 and spent time serving in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Robbinsdale, Minnesota. In November 1993, two women filed separate lawsuits accusing Father McGrath of sexual abuse when they were parishioners at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis in the 1960s. The women were 16 and 14 years old when they were abused by McGrath.
St. Helena’s and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis were also named as defendants in the complaint against Father McGrath. McGrath is not included in the Official Catholic Directory after 1995.
