Fr. Harold J. DeJonghe was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1957. He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in approximately 1975. At some point between his retirement in approximately 1990 and his death in 1998, Fr. DeJonghe reportedly lived at the Nazareth House in Los Angeles. In a 2003 lawsuit, Fr. DeJonghe was accused of sexually abusing a child in the early 1980s. In 2004, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles concluded that the accusations were unfounded. However, Fr. DeJonghe was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct with minors.
