William T. White: Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

In 1997, Monsignor William T. White, Archdiocese of New York, was accused of sexual abuse. Monsignor White was Dean of Studies at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York when he sexually abused a student for three years in approximately the 1970s. In 1998, a $100,000 settlement was reached between the survivor and Archdiocese. On February 26, 2004, Monsignor White was named in a civil lawsuit which included a survivor of child sexual abuse. Monsignor White worked at Holy Cross Parish, Manhattan, New York when he sexually abused the survivor from approximately 1959 to 1961.

Monsignor William T. White was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of New York in 1958 and worked at the following locations:

1959-1965: Holy Cross, Manhattan, NY

1966-1975: Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains, NY

(1970: Coordinator of Student Activities; 1971: Counselor; 1973-1975: Dean of Studies)

1976-1978: Pastoral Life Conference, New York, NY (Director)

1977-1982: Cardinal Spellman High School, New York, NY (Principle)

1983-1994: Holy Family, New Rochelle, NY

In 1994, Monsignor William T. White moved to Florida and took a teaching position at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. He resigned on March 12, 2002 after the president at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary discovered the Archdiocese of New York had settled a case involving alleged sexual abuse by Monsignor White.
