Father Francis Markey, an Irish priest, was ordained in 1952. Fr. Markey spent time at St. Andrews Parish in Granite Falls, Minnesota during the spring of 1982, and then worked at Willmar State Hospital briefly.
Fr. Markey was suspended at least three times and sent to treatment four times for sexually abusing minors during his career. In November 2009 Fr. Markey was arrested in South Bend, Indiana on a warrant issued in Ireland based on accusations that he raped a 15 year old boy on two occasions forty years earlier. Fr. Markey was eventually extradited to Ireland for trial. In March 2011 a lawsuit was filed alleging Fr. Markey sexually abused an 8 year old boy during his short time at St. Andrews.
Fr. Markey died in 2012 in Ireland while awaiting trial on rape charges.
