Fr. Mark N. Matson, C.R.

Notes: Fr. Mark Matson was ordained a priest of the Theatine Fathers. Fr. Matson is alleged to have abused multiple children in Colorado and California. In 2010, a man filed a civil lawsuit alleging Fr. Matson sexually abused him as a minor child in 1976 while Fr. Matson worked at St. Andrew Seminary in Denver, Colorado. Fr. Matson has been accused of sexually abusing two boys in Colorado in 1987 and another boy in California in 1989. In 1998, Fr. Matson allegedly sexually abused a minor boy for which he was criminally charged and convicted. In 2000, Fr. Matson was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Five years later, another Colorado survivor came forward and alleged he was sexually abused by Fr. Matson in 1982. Fr. Matson was granted parole in July 2013 and is currently registered as a sex offender in Hawaii. Fr. Matson’s current status as a priest, his whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
