In 2002, the Archdiocese of New York removed Fr. Ralph Labelle from ministry due to an allegation that he formed an inappropriate relationship with a fifteen-year-old boy in the past. The Putnam County District Attorney’s office conducted an investigation into the relationship. Fr. LaBelle was laicized in 2005.
Fr. Ralph LaBelle was ordained for the Archdiocese of New York in 1978 and worked in parishes in Staten Island, the Bronx, and Manhattan, New York. Fr. LaBelle was laicized in 2005.
The Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program of the Archdiocese of New York has made financial settlement available to at least one survivor of Fr. LaBelle’s abuse.
