Joseph M. Clark: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

In 2006, Brother Joseph M. Clark of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Archdiocese of New York, was named in a lawsuit brought by Br. Robert Hoatson. Br. Clark was the Novice Master at Santa Maria Novitiate in West Park, New York, when he allegedly sexually abused Br. Hoatson from approximately 1971 to 1972.

Br. Joseph M. Clark was the founding principal of Bishop Kearney High School in Irondequoit, New York, from 1962 to 1967. He was appointed Master of Novices for the Province in September 1968. In June 1973, Br. Clark was assigned to work on the student recruitment and admissions team at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. He also worked at Power Memorial Academy and as a guidance counselor at Blessed Sacrament High School. Br. Joseph M. Clark died on August 3, 1986.
