Boy Scouts Sued For Nuisance in New York, Lawsuits Seek Release of Secret Perversion Files

Nine Survivors Sue Boy Scouts of America and Greater New York Councils

Children Remain at Risk Because Boy Scouts of America Has Kept Perversion Files and Identities of Sexually Abusive Leaders Secret

(New York, NY) – Tuesday in Manhattan, the law firm of Jeff Anderson & Associates will:

  • Announce the filing of 9 lawsuits against Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and its Greater New York Councils for sexual abuse as minors of 9 survivors by 9 adult Scout leaders;
  • Reveal that one of the lawsuits made possible by New York’s Child Victims Act pursues a claim of nuisance. BSA has created and continues to maintain a nuisance by concealing sexual abuse of scouts by its present and former leaders in its secret Perversion Files. All 9 lawsuits include claims of negligence;
  • Discuss how for nearly 100 years, BSA has concealed from the public its Perversion Files, which contain information and documents on Scout leaders with allegations of sexual misconduct against children;
  • Discuss and reveal that in January 2019, defense expert Dr. Janet Warren testified in a Hennepin County trial involving The Children’s Theatre Company that she was hired by BSA to review all BSA Ineligible Volunteer files (which include Perversion Files) from 1944-2016. Her review revealed an astounding 7,819 Boy Scout sexual misconduct perpetrators and 12,254 victims from 1944-2016. It is unknown how many of the 7,819 perpetrators BSA has disclosed publicly;
  • Discuss and reveal that Jeff Anderson & Associates is seeking the release of the 1,538 Perversion Files comprised of approximately 48,000 pages of documents from the years 1999-2008 in a Ramsey County (MN) BSA lawsuit.
