Survivor Files Letter Asking Court to Reinstate Lawsuit Against Steven Tyler

Lawyer Calls the Lawsuit Dismissal a “Grave Injustice”

(New York, NY): Earlier this week, a sexual assault lawsuit identifying Steven Tyler as a perpetrator was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan. Tyler’s lawyers filed the motion to ask the Court to dismiss the lawsuit in early February but failed to serve it on the survivor as required by court rules. Yesterday, we filed a letter with the Court explaining the failure to serve our firm with the motion to dismiss and asked the Court to reinstate the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed in November of 2023 under New York City’s Victim of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act — a law that extends the statute of limitations for sexual violence that is gender motivated, in some cases from decades ago, to finally be heard in court.
