Br. Xavier Leonard Boulanger, F.M.S.
Br. Xavier Leonard Boulanger was a Marist brother. Br. Boulanger worked with young children at Marist summer camps and taught in Manchester, New Hampshire; Wheeling, West Virginia; Lowell, Massachusetts; and New York City, New York. In 2005, a lawsuit was filed alleging Br. Boulanger sexually abused a minor boy from approximately 1967 to 1968, while he was a teacher at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts. A second lawsuit filed in 2017 accused Br. Boulanger of child sexual abuse at Central Catholic High School in the 1960s. The plaintiff in this case claimed he had told the principal about the abuse, but no action was taken. Fr. Boulanger’s name was reportedly omitted from the Archdiocese of Boston’s 2011 list of clerics accused of sexually abusing children because he was a religious order, as opposed to diocesan, priest. Br. Boulanger’s status as a brother, whereabouts, and whether he had access to children until his death in 1987 are unknown.
