Fr. Richard Ahern was ordained a Stigmatine priest. Fr. Ahern reportedly was the director of a summer camp for boys, Camp Elm Bank, in the 1960s in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Fr. Ahern has been accused of sexually abusing at least four minor boys, both from the camp and from approximately 1959 to 1961, while he was working at Our Lady of the Angels in Woodbridge, Virginia. The Stigmatines were reportedly aware of allegations of child sexual abuse against Fr. Ahern as early as 1979, and in 1988 his faculties were restricted. Whether Fr. Ahern had access to children from approximately 1987 until his death in 2001 is unknown.
