Boy Scouts Abuse and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

If you are a survivor sexual abuse in Boy Scouts in Arizona, we want to help. On February 17, 2020, the Boy Scouts of America announced its filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. On May 26, 2020 the bankruptcy court set a claims bar date marking the deadline by which all survivors of child sexual abuse by a BSA volunteer or employee must formally file a claim with the court: November 16, 2020.

After November 16, a survivor could be denied any sort of recovery from the Boy Scouts of America. This complicated and highly nuanced legal tactic is often confusing to people who are not familiar with this type of bankruptcy, and it can prevent survivors of child sexual abuse from pursuing legal action. The Anderson Report: Sexual Abuse in The Diocese of Phoenix

This report contains the names of diocesan priests, religious order priests, and other religious clerics associated with the Diocese of Phoenix, including those of whom were assigned within, working in, or living in the geographical boundaries of the Dioceses of Tucson and Gallup before the Diocese of Phoenix was formed in 1969, who have been accused of sexual misconduct with minors. While lawsuits were filed involving many of these alleged perpetrators, the vast majority of the claims against these individuals have been settled or have not been fully evaluated in a civil or criminal court. All individuals should be considered innocent until proven guilty. Download the report.
