Press Event: Former Priest to Reveal Secret Cover-up of Clergy Sex Abuse in Winona Diocese and the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul

Because the Court Nixed Trial, Priest Who Was Witness To Secrets Says He is Compelled To Tell All

What:  At a press conference on Thursday in St. Paul, clergy abuse attorney Jeff Anderson and clergy abuse survivor Jim Keenan will join a former priest of the Diocese of Winona and employee of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis who will reveal his personal experience in how and when and where the officials of the Diocese of Winona and the Archdiocese of Minneapolis knowingly conspired to conceal the sexual abuse and crimes against multiple children for over two decades.

This former priest is coming forward because of the recent decision of the Supreme Court that dismissed Jim Keenan’s case and as a matter of conscience feels that people need to know what happened.  He will reveal how as a priest of the Diocese of Winona he personally received reports of abuse and brought them to the Bishop and how they were concealed.  In addition, he will personally detail how after becoming an employee in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis the concealment of reports continued and the secret placement of Adamson continued.

Finally, the priest will give a stunning account of Carlson’s active role in the cover-up and concealment.  He will use his name and provide vivid details of who in the hierarchy did what and when; and explain that because the Minnesota Supreme Court ruling will keep the Keenan case from going to trial, he cannot now testify, and therefore feels compelled that the truth must be known.

(Bishop Robert Carlson is now the Archbishop of St. Louis)
