Fr. John F. Fitzpatrick has been accused of child sexual abuse by at least five survivors. In 1993, Bishop Howard
Hubbard received an anonymous letter accusing Fr. Fitzpatrick of child sexual abuse. When confronted, Fr. Fitzpatrick
confessed to sexually abusing three children. Fr. Fitzpatrick was subsequently sent to Servants of the Paraclete, an
institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. In 1996, more survivors came forward causing Fr.
Fitzpatrick to resign. Fr. Fitzpatrick was named on the Diocese of Albany’s lists of “Clergy Credibly Accused While
Serving in the Diocese of Albany.” Fr. Fitzpatrick’s status a priest, his current whereabouts, and whether he has access
to children are unknown.
