Ben O’Reilly
In June 2013, Br. Ben O’Reilly, a Franciscan Brother working in the Diocese of Brooklyn, was named in a lawsuit brought by a survivor of child sexual abuse. Br. O’Reilly was working at St. Francis Prep in Queens, New York, as a Spanish teacher when he allegedly sexually abused the survivor, who was a student, in 2006. St. Francis Prep had Br. O’Reilly evaluated by a psychologist, who determined he was unfit to work with children. The school subsequently removed Br. O’Reilly from the classroom, but allowed him to remain living on campus.
