Br. Romanus Brocato was a member of the Brothers of St. Francis Xavier. Br. Brocato joined the Order in 1926. In 2002, the Xaverian Brothers received a report alleging abuse by Br. Brocato in the mid-1960s in Brooklyn, New York. Br. Brocato was named on the Xaverian Brothers’ 2019 list of “Deceased or former Xaverian Brothers with a credible or established offense against a minor (anyone under the age of 18).” Br. Brocato was also named on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s 2019 “List of Priests and Brothers Accused of Child Sexual Abuse.” Fr. Brocato’s whereabouts and whether he had access to children from 1972 until his death in 1992 are unknown.
