Father Herbert D’Argenio
Father Herbert D’Argenio was ordained in 1959 in the Archdiocese of New York. He worked at parishes in Newburgh, Larchmont and the Bronx. Fr. D’Argenio worked at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus in the Bronx from approximately 1959 to 1976 where he developed the Teen Folk Group. Fr. D’Argenio also influenced young men to consider the priesthood. These young men, some who are now priests, were and still are known as, “Herbie’s boys.”
On October 25, 2017, Fr. Herbert D’Argenio’s name was publicly disclosed for the first time as having sexually abused a boy at St. Theresa’s in the Bronx.
